Poker hand rankings

This is a brief post that covers the most basic rule of any form of poker: hand rankings. Some forms of poker do not follow these ranks, but they do hold for the most popular games: 5-draw, Texas Hold’em, Omaha, Stud, etc.

From best to worst:

  • royal straight (which is just an ace high straight flush)    
  • straight flush
  • four of a kind
  • full house
  • flush
  • straight
  • three of a kind
  • two pair
  • one pair
  • high cards
